New Council of Ministers ordinance on concession payments for extraction of underground resources (2026)

The Ministry of Energy drafted a new ordinance setting the concession payment due for mineral extraction under the Underground Resources Act, to tie payments more closely to market conditions and to cover deep geothermal resources, a new resource group. It was put to public consultation from 8 December 2025 to 7 January 2026. The Ministry's PDAC 2026 investor brochure states that the concession-payment method, unchanged since 1999, was amended in January 2026. The exact adoption date and final rates were not verified.
