Government Regulation No. 82/2025 Coll. designating the Cínovec and Horní Slavkov lithium deposits as deposits of strategic importance

Issued under the amended Mining Act, the regulation names five reserved critical-mineral deposits as deposits of strategic importance: three Cínovec deposits, the Cínovec tailings and the Horní Slavkov tailings. This brings them under the accelerated permitting regime. These Ore Mountains (Krušné hory) deposits are Czechia's main lithium resources.

Act No. 465/2023 Coll. amending the Mining Act: critical minerals and deposits of strategic importance

Part of a wider infrastructure-acceleration act. The Mining Act amendments declare exploration and mining of reserved deposits to be in the public interest and create the category of deposits of strategic importance, meaning critical-mineral deposits vital to raw-material or energy security, to be designated by government regulation. They also set accelerated, deadline-bound procedures for mining areas for critical minerals and strategic deposits.
