Peruvian precious-metals producer founded in 1953 with the purchase of the Julcani mine in Huancavelica. Its history includes the Orcopampa and Uchucchacua plants, a stake in El Brocal, and participation in Yanacocha and the Cerro Verde privatisation; in 1996 it became the first Latin American miner listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
