Ghana's draft mining bill proposes state special shares, shorter leases and local processing
A draft Ghanaian mining bill would let the mines minister require a free special share with veto rights over major transactions, cut maximum lease terms from 30 to 15 years or mine life, and allow the state to mandate domestic processing or restrict concentrate exports. Existing rights holders would have to migrate to the new regime, and the draft remains subject to legislative review.
